Cleveland Browns tackle Joe Thomas out for season with torn triceps
Cleveland Browns starting left tackle Joe Thomas has torn his triceps, ending his season after a remarkable run.
When you see any impressive streak, you never want it to end. You want it to continue and see how high it can get. This one though felt different. The Cleveland Browns are the main laughing stock of the NFL and they have been for decades. One positive about the team though is, for the past 10 years, they have had the best left tackle in the NFL. Since entering the league, Joe Thomas has never missed a game.
Thomas would leave the game during the third quarter on Sunday and wouldn’t return. The team called it a tricep injury. On Monday, they released an update and it wasn’t good. Thomas had torn his triceps and would miss the rest of the season. He will have surgery to fix the issue.
Playing and starting in all 16 games since 2007, Thomas has been an ironman. He’s never missed a snap since his rookie year, making his snap count streak at 10,363, the longest in NFL history.
At 32, going on 33, Thomas could also be thinking about hanging up the cleats after a successful career. Thomas told cleveland.com that for the past few seasons he has analyzed if returning was the right decision and that after the 2017 season he would consider it once again.
The Browns lost the game 12-9 to Tennessee in overtime, making the day even worse.
