The Spurs have been without Kawhi Leonard for the first two games of the season but he could make his season debut Monday night. In his absence, LaMarcus Aldridge has stepped up, following a recently signing a contract extension. Aldridge is averaging 26.5 points in the Spurs two wins. Former Raptor Rudy Gay has embraced his sixth man role in his first season with San Antonio. Gay is averaging 13 points and shooting 50 percent from the field. Leonard’s injury has resulted in bigger roles for former first-round picks Kyle Anderson and Dejounte Murray. Both players have seen their minutes and shot attempts increase over the first two games, compared to previous seasons.
Raptors coach Dwane Casey has clearly changed his offensive game plan this season, that has seen the Raptors attempt more 3s. In their last game against Philadelphia, Toronto attempted 44 3s. The Raptors have blown out Chicago and Philadelphia this season, allowing Casey to rest key starters such as Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan is the only Raptor averaging more than 20 points per game, but Toronto has seven players averaging double-figures this season.
