With Clemson away from the action on a bye in Week 8, Miami held onto their top spot in the ACC power rankings heading into Week 9.
Despite a close game last week, the Miami Hurricanes have officially survived Week 8 of the college football season, and remain the lone undefeated squad in the ACC heading into their seventh game of the season.
The Hurricanes had a bit of a battle with Syracuse this past weekend, which may seem a bit scary to any fans of “The U,” but they remain on top of the power rankings this week as they prepare for Week 9.
Meanwhile, with some big wins from Georgia Tech, Louisville and even Boston College, there was plenty of movement elsewhere in the rankings to make up for Miami staying atop the list. With that in mind, here are the ACC power rankings heading into Week 9 of the 2017 season.

This week may have some surprising rankings and changes throughout, but it appears as if one thing will be staying the same for the rest of the year when it comes to the North Carolina Tar Heels.
UNC just hasn’t been able to do anything right in 2017, as they fell hard when they played Virginia Tech over the weekend in a 59-7 loss. They moved to 1-7 on the year, and it still somehow looks like things could go even further downhill over the next few weeks. At this point, it doesn’t look like they’ll be moving from the bottom of the barrel anytime soon in the ACC this season.
This. This one upsets me deeply, Duke. Like a parent saddened when their child stays out an hour past their curfew: I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed.
I put a ton of faith in the Duke Blue Devils towards the beginning of the season, and it looks like it was all for naught. They looked like a strong team with a solid and high-powered offense, and it appeared as if they’d be able to shock some teams and fans in the ACC throughout the 2017 season. However, over the last few weeks, they’ve had some bad losses, and their Week 8 defeat against Pittsburgh was the last straw. Now, they’re grounded and stuck at the 13 spot until further notice.
