This is the first of two cases on this week’s power rankings where teams back-to-back on the rankings actually faced off with each other in the week before. In this case, it was Louisville coming out on top, but still coming in before the team they beat.

The Cardinals defeated the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday in a close 31-28 win, and (sort of) made up for a lackluster last few weeks. However, they beat a weakened Florida State offense, and still managed to give up 28 points to the Seminoles in the process. If they want to get back to their glory days from the beginning of the season, they’ll have to be a little more convincing in their wins.

On the other end of that game against Louisville was obviously the Florida State Seminoles, and they see a small drop in the rankings after the loss on Saturday to the Cardinals.

For a team with a 2-4 record, it’s weird to be consistently putting Florida State around the sixth, seventh or eighth spot in the rankings each week. However, they’ve shown that they can still hang around with teams like Miami and Louisville, even with their offense not up to the expectations they had heading into 2017. This ranking is more based on potential than anything, I assume, and it’ll be interesting to see how the Seminoles wrap up an upsetting 2017 season.
