College football recruiting rankings, Week 9: Georgia on the rise
Week 8 of the college football season is in the books but recruiting never stops. Let’s take a look at the updated recruiting rankings.
For the entire 2017 college football season, Ohio State has been the most consistent of any team. No, I’m not talking about on the field, because that award would go to either Penn State or Alabama, but rather in the recruiting ranks.
Since the start of the season, and even before, the Buckeyes and Urban Meyer have sat atop the 247Sports and ESPN team recruiting rankings. Well, that didn’t change in Week 9, but there was finally a new team to jump into the ranks.
Who jumped into the top 10 this week?
Let’s check out the 247Sports top 10 rankings after the eighth week of action:
- Ohio State: 18 commits
- Texas: 19 commits
- Miami: 19 commits
- Penn State: 22 commits
- Oregon: 23 commits
- Florida:18 commits
- Georgia: 17 commits
- Tennessee: 23 commits
- Florida State: 19 commits
- Notre Dame: 17 commits
Georgia was the big riser this week, replacing Oklahoma in the top 10. It seems as if the Bulldogs’ success on the field is equating to recruiting triumphs. The Bulldogs jumped all the way from outside the top 10 last week to No. 7. That’s what happens when you’re the No. 3 team in the country with a coach on the rise.
Florida also moved up two spots from No. 8 last week. It looks like the SEC is picking up steam, according to 247Sports. It’s only a matter of time before Alabama cracks the top 10.
Now, here’s a look at the ESPN rankings after Week 8:
- Ohio State
- Texas
- Penn State
- Miami
- Oregon
- Florida State
- Tennessee
- Florida
- Oklahoma
- Notre Dame
Although the Fighting Irish are in the 247Sports top 10, they were on the outside at No. 14 in ESPN‘s last week, but jumped four spots to replace UCLA. Georgia isn’t in this one, though, as the Bulldogs sit squarely at No. 12.
