It’s going to be a hot night in Los Angeles for Game 1 of the 2017 World Series, but don’t expect the heat to get Kershaw or Keuchel hot under the collar.

Santa Ana winds moved into Los Angeles just in time for Game 1 of the 2017 World Series. With scorching heat, possible winds and extremely dry conditions, expect game time temps to hit the high 90s after a triple-digit day.

Los Angeles Dodgers ace and Game 1 starter Clayton Kershaw isn’t sweating it: “Yeah, it’s going to be hot. But, no, I don’t think it’s going to change anything. I think by 5 o’clock, the sun will be down. They’re from Houston. I’m from Texas. It’s going to be hot for everybody. We’re all used to it.”

High temps can be a boon for hitters, with 1.5 home runs on average with temps of 90 degrees or more. However, given that Justin Turner and Jose Altuve are already swinging some hot bats, home runs are going to be a given in this series.

Hot temperatures have been lingering in Southern California for the past few weeks, spurring wildfires in the area that led to poor air quality in mid-October while the Dodgers were playing in the NLDS and NLCS. Houston has been in the mid-70s with a decent amount of humidity over the past few days, so the dry conditions might wreak havoc on allergies but so long as the teams stay hydrated, the heat shouldn’t be an issue.

Historically, late October baseball has seen everything from heat to rain, and even some sub-50s temps. Rain would be a bigger cause for concern, but there is definitely no rain on the horizon in Los Angeles.

Game 1 of the 2017 World Series is October 24 at 8pm on FOX.
