Browns rookie Myles Garrett enters concussion protocol
The Cleveland Browns struggles continue as rookie defensive end Myles Garrett enters the concussion protocol.
After going 1-15 in 2016, the Cleveland Browns were looking to rebound with a loaded NFL Draft class of 2017. Their first overall pick was Myles Garrett, a monster defensive end from Texas A&M.
That monster has been banged up all season and got re-injured last week.
On Tuesday, Garrett reported to the Browns facility with concussion symptoms and the team announced they put him in concussion protocol on Wednesday.
Garrett has been limited in his time in the NFL, dealing with a high ankle sprain and now a concussion, only appearing in three of the seven games played, but getting 11 tackles and a team-leading four sacks.
Garrett isn’t the only rookie on the team to underperform. DeShone Kizer, the second round pick to help the Browns quarterbacks issues, hasn’t been what the team wanted. Starting in six of the seven games this season, and getting pulled out for some of them, Kizer has thrown for 965 yards, three touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
The Browns also lost starting left tackle Joe Thomas on Sunday due to a torn triceps, ending his season. He had 10,363 straight snaps for the Browns and for the first time since 2006 they will not have him at left tackle.
Again, the Browns are struggling in 2017. They are 0-7 and with multiple quarterback changes during the season, as DeShone Kizer has been pulled a few times, Kevin Hogan got a start and appeared in four games, and Cody Kessler relieved Kizer on Sunday.
A bright spot in their struggles is that rookie tight end David Njoku has been doing well as he has 16 catches for 176 yards and a team-leading three receiving touchdowns.

The Browns could be on pace for another 1-15, or even worse, a 0-16 season. They will look for their first win as they travel to London this Sunday to take on the Minnesota Vikings.
