Stranger Things will soon return for another set of episodes. However, how many more seasons could hit Netflix in the future?
Stranger Things became a Netflix sensation in 2016. The first eight episodes introduced viewers to a group of kids and a concerned mother from Hawkins, Indiana that investigate the “strange things” occurring. This included the disappearance of a young boy and the mystery of what happened to him.
This show was so well-regarded that it won multiple Emmy awards at this year’s event. Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series were just two of the accolades taken home.
On Friday, Oct. 27, Stranger Things returns for its second season. This time nine episodes will be available to stream on Netflix. It won’t be the end of this program, either, with season 3 already on the way. After that, the show’s future is somewhat up in the air.
It doesn’t seem like Stranger Things will end after season 3, but doubt remains about it finishing after season 4 or a possible season 5. Executive producer Shawn Levy told Entertainment Weekly the show will go four seasons, with the fifth as a “possibility.”
Given the popularity and success of Stranger Things, seeing it go to a fifth season wouldn’t be a surprise. The fanfare around it, especially in the build for season 2, displayed how far this show took off after just one season, with people anticipating the next strange thing to occur in Hawkins.

Stranger Things 2 won’t be anywhere close to the end. If anything, it will start the newest story that leads into the future and whatever else may happen. So, let’s wait and enjoy seasons 2 and 3 before finding out the official final slate of episodes for this Netflix Original.
