Frank Solich

, Ohio

The Ohio Bobcats have the longest-tenured head coach in the MAC in Frank Solich. He has led the Bobcats to multiple winning seasons, bowl games, and conference championship games. You could not ask much more out of a head coach from the MAC.

Solich has also been a coach at other legendary programs like Nebraska football and is well-known all over the college football landscape. It would be very easy to enjoy playing for a coach with such stability and a long track record of success.

This might not be the type of personality to draw the most attention to the Ohio football program. However, Solich gets the job done and has a strong draw for a team from the MAC. Playing for Solich would be like having a fun tenure American History professor in college.

You do not quite appreciate having Solich around until a younger, less successful and experienced candidate takes his place. He probably will not take Ohio to the next level during his time with the program, but he’ll be remembered forever with the former players and fan base.

Not all coaches who are regarding among college football fans as “fun” show it all the time in the media. Yet, whenever Ohio football is on TV, you’ll be sure to hear plenty about Solich in the process.
