Houston stuns the Dodgers with back to back homers

HOUSTON, TX - OCTOBER 5: Jose Altuve

Fresh off a game-tying home run from Marwin Gonzalez, Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa added bombs of their own as Houston looks to even the World Series at one game apiece.

Game 2 of the World Series has had it all to this point. Justin Verlander was no-hitting the Dodgers through a large chunk of the game before giving up two homers, Dodgers All-Star Kenley Jansen coughed up a lead, and this all set the stage for Jose Altuve to do what he does best.

Seriously, this dude just doesn’t have an off switch. On a night when he won the Hank Aaron award for being the American League’s top hitter, Altuve could have catapulted Houston to their first win in the Series. Not to be outdone, his tag team partner up the middle of the infield decided he wanted in on the action. Carlos Correa followed Altuve with a monster shot of his own.

This is just one of the reasons the Astros likely have the best middle infield combo in all of Major League Baseball. Altuve and Correa can do it all. They can field, they can hit for average, they can hit massively important home runs in the World Series, you get the point.

The Astros really need to win Game 2. The schedule has the Series shifting to Houston for the next three and it’s a completely different series coming home 1-1 instead of down 2-0. They fought and clawed and have finally seen their offense show a little bit of life. It’s been a struggle through the postseason for Houston offensively. Their run totals look good, but the overall offense hasn’t been very consistent. They’re proving to be a resilient bunch that could really turn the Series on its head back in Houston.
