Bears at Saints: Preview, prediction, odds and pick
By John Buhler
The New Orleans Saints will host the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon in Week 8. Here is a game preview, the betting odds and a final score prediction.
Week 8 of the 2017 NFL season is upon us. One game of note going on between two NFC teams this week will feature the Chicago Bears (3-4) and the New Orleans Saints (4-2). Kickoff from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans will be at 1:00 p.m. ET on Oct. 29. Justin Kutcher and Chris Spielman will be in the booth to call the game for FOX.
Chicago enters play at a surprising 3-4 on the season. Many saw the Bears as potentially the worst team in the NFC in 2017. Though they aren’t a playoff team by any stretch of the imagination, their personnel is definitely better than excepted. Now imagine what NFL wide receivers and an offensive-minded head coach could do for this team in 2018.
New Orleans is atop the NFC South standings at 4-2. This is the hottest team in the NFC, having won four straight games. This Saints team is balanced and could be the best team head coach Sean Payton has had since winning the Super Bowl back in the 2009 NFL season for all we know. This team looks good.
Betting Odds
Point Spread: New Orleans -9.5
Moneylines: New Orleans -400, Chicago +330
Over/Under: 47.5
According to SportsBook Review, the Saints will be laying 9.5 points at home to the Bears. The associated moneylines for this game will be New Orleans -400 and Chicago +330. This game’s over/under is a combined 47.5 points.
Since we can’t trust the Bears offense to throw for a ton of yards, let’s go with the under in this one. That being said, the Bears have shown that they can play competitive ball up to this point thanks to that underrated defense of Vic Fangio.
New Orleans is the superior team in this game and should move to 5-2 with relative ease. However, the Bears will play about 55 minutes of solid football to make this game closer than expected.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees will throw an untimely interception that will result in a pick-six for the Bears. It’ll be just enough of a spark to convince the Bears that they are in this game. Then in the fourth quarter, Brees will orchestrate a drive that puts the Bears out of reach with a Wil Lutz field goal. The Saints win by a touchdown, but the Bears find a way to cover the 9.5-point spread.
Prediction: Saints 24, Bears 17
