3. Mike Riley

Mike Riley might just finish the season out as head coach of Nebraska. If they’re going to make a decision in that area, they could just choose to wait until the offseason to officially part ways if they decide to do so.

The tipping point for Riley was the blowout losses to Wisconsin and Ohio State. He might not have necessarily needed to see Nebraska win those games, but they at least could have been a lot more competitive.

When it comes to Riley’s situation, it’s one of those times when the writing was put on the wall potentially for him. When they chose to fire the athletic director, it really put him in a spot where he had to do the impossible.

Unfortunately, his team didn’t respond with two big chances at home against two powerhouses. There are plenty of programs that end up falling in those situations, but they got absolutely blasted.

Up next is a road game against Purdue for Nebraska. It’s a far cry from having to play Ohio State again. A victory on the road could be exactly what Riley needs to see another week and keep his guys in bowl contention.
