Josh Rosen injury: Bruins QB leaves game vs. Washington
UCLA Bruins star quarterback Josh Rosen headed to the locker room in the third quarter of Saturday’s matchup with the No. 12 Washington Huskies in Seattle.
A tough season for Jim Mora and the UCLA Bruins might be about to get even worse.
After starting the year at 2-0 to rise to No. 25 in the AP Poll behind a wild comeback win at Texas A&M, the Bruins have fallen to 4-3 and are well out of Pac-12 South contention. UCLA’s defense has been a disaster, and blowout losses to Stanford and Arizona have Mora on the hot seat.
The one bright spot has been quarterback Josh Rosen, who could be one of the first quarterbacks off the board in the 2018 NFL Draft. Unfortunately for the Bruins, Rosen exited the second half Saturday’s game against the No. 12 Washington Huskies with an undisclosed injury, per Percy Allen of The Seattle Times.
Rosen has thrown for 2,620 yards and 19 touchdowns to eight interceptions this season, the best marks of his college career. Four-star freshman Devon Modster, who entered Saturday’s action with three career pass attempts, took over under center for Rosen following the injury.
UCLA trailed the Huskies 20-9 before Rosen’s exit and has fallen 17 points further behind in the third quarter. Modster is one out of three for five yards and figures to have a tough time in his first real game action against the ferocious Washington defense.
Next: Miami can't just squeak by anymore
If Rosen is out for an extended period of time, UCLA could have a difficult time qualifying for a bowl game with the issues all over the rest of the roster. Rosen also has an NFL future to think about and might want to take his time returning depending on the severity of the undisclosed injury.
