Arizona State and USC had one of the craziest ends to a half that we will see in college football this season

The Arizona State Sun Devils are looking to keep their winning streak going on Saturday night in Tempe against the USC Trojans, and things aren’t really going well in obtaining that goal. At the half, the Sun Devils found themselves down 31-10 to the Trojans, with obviously not much to be proud of.

Well, the end of the half was the lone bright spot for Arizona State in this one, and it is also one of the wildest things that we will see all season long.

With time winding down in the half, Arizona State was looking to gain any sort of momentum, so they heaved the ball down the field for the Hail Mary. Here’s what happened…

So, OK, at a glance in real time there, it appears as if the ball was caught by the receiver in the end zone, however, the ball never crossed the plane. Therefore, while it was an incredible catch, it’s very much not a touchdown.

As Pac-12 refs tend to do from time to time, we were all very confused when they came back from a review and reversed the initial call on the field of the ball being short of the goal line.

But, that was not the peak of the weirdness of this play. With everyone thinking that the half was over with that insanity, they all had to come back out just so Arizona State could kick the extra point before the half actually came to an end.

See, now this is what you expect when you tune in for Pac-12 After Dark. As stupid as it may sound, you’re supposed to come away from some of it wondering what the hell you’ve just witnessed take place on a football field.

Keep being you, Pac-12. You’re great.
