No. 10: Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State battled with West Virginia on Saturday. There was an upset alert for the final two quarters, but the Pokes survived and kept their high spot in the rankings. Next is Oklahoma and Iowa State, however, which can easily make the Cowboys a three-loss team and be nowhere near the Big 12 and College Football Playoff Rankings.

No. 9: Oklahoma

Oklahoma played a somewhat close game with Texas Tech in the first half but blew the doors open in the final 30 minutes. It was another offensive domination for the Sooners who still have Big 12 hopes and eye a spot in the College Football Playoff. Oklahoma State is next, though, which could break this stretch of momentum.

No. 8: Penn State

Penn State suffered its first loss of the season in a late-game meltdown to Ohio State. Luckily for them, it came against the No. 6 team in the nation and was a one-point game. So, it shouldn’t move them down far but enough to make it a climb into the top four. A lot of football remains, so it’s possible multiple teams in the top seven fall. However, the Nittany Lions must win out to stay alive.

No. 7: Clemson

After receiving two weeks to think about the loss to Syracuse, Clemson returned and found no issues against Georgia Tech. It was a much-needed win, even if it came against an inferior opponent. Will this contribute toward movement in the rankings? Potentially, depending on how impacted the committee feels over Penn State and TCU losing.

No. 6: Miami

A tight win over North Carolina moves Miami up and has them jump Clemson and Penn State. They are one of the few remaining perfect teams in college football and look to be in “U” form. Back-to-back games against Virginia Tech and Notre Dame are on the way, which will make or break the Hurricanes’ chances at the College Football Playoff.
