Jimmie Johnson will try to grab a big playoff win by coming from the very rear of the field, and we tell you how to watch live.

There haven’t been too many times when Jimmie Johnson has been an underdog. That’s what happens when you’re a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. But this weekend at Martinsville Speedway is definitely one of them.

Johnson spun in traffic while attempting to qualify for the First Data 500, and now he’s got to start from the rear of the field. That’s significant because even though Johnson is still alive in the NASCAR Playoffs Round of 8, he’s been far from his dominant self and is basically just hanging on at this point.

Martin Truex Jr., on the other hand, has no such problems. Not only has he looked just as fast in the playoffs as he was during the regular season, he’s also starting second beside pole-sitter Joey Logano at Martinsville. Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney, two other drivers who really need good finishes, start just behind them in Row 2.

With plenty of intrigue throughout the field and the usual short track racing hijinks sure to be part of the deal as well, the First Data 500 should be appointment viewing for NASCAR fans. Here’s where and how to watch live, either on TV or online.

Date: Sunday, Oct. 29
