Hellas Verona face Inter Milan at the Bentegodi Stadium on Monday, Oct. 30. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

There have been some positive surprises in Serie A this season. Inter Milan are one of them. The club, loaded with tradition, have seen bleak times in recent years. Now they find themselves near the top of the table, trying to keep pace with title favorites Napoli and defending champions Juventus.

In order to keep pace, Inter will need to defeat Hellas Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi on Monday in a match that has implications for both teams at opposite ends of the table. Inter are currently second with 26 points, while Verona are struggling in the relegation zone, third from the bottom with six points.

Verona have become a yo-yo club in recent decades, with their own league title coming at the end of the 1984-85 season. Inter, on the other hand, have won the title 18 times in addition to being crowned European champion three times. Their most-recent Champions League trophy came under Jose Mourinho in 2010.

Now managed by former Roma manager Luciano Spalletti, the Nerazzurri are making a go of it this year. While he has talked down talk of winning the title, Spalletti’s team remains undefeated this season. Led by striker Mauro Icardi, winger Ivan Perisic and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, Inter have exceeded expectations and could very well finish in the top four. For now, they remains a contender for the league title and have dominated their city rivals, AC Milan.

Inter have already played some big matches and fared fairly well. They beat AC Milan 3-2 in what was a rollicking affair and played Napoli to a scoreless draw on the road. Their match versus Verona should be much easier to handle for a team loaded with midfield talent and able to use their physical play to out-muscle opponents off the ball.

Inter played a thriller this past Tuesday, downing Sampdoria 3-2 thanks to two Icardi goals. The victory temporarily put them in first place, ahead of Napoli, as the remainder of the league’s matchday 10 fixture list was played the following day. Napoli narrowly defeated Genoa 3-2 on Wednesday to regain first.

Verona, meanwhile, are in the drop zone. They need to show more grit if they want to overcome such a strong opponent like Inter in their effort to avoid relegation. The team, coached by Fabio Pecchia, lost the heated intra-city derby against rivals Chievo 3-2 and have only been able to muster one win in 10 games. Their most-recent defeat came last Wednesday in the form of a 3-0 loss to Atalanta.
