Here’s how the Jimmy Garoppolo trade impacts the rest of the NFL

Kirk Cousins Better Start Making Amends in Washington
Poor Kirk Cousins.
This offseason, he was either being told he wasn’t worth more than what Washington was offering him or he was being praised for holding out for the big contract San Francisco was bound to give him.
Now everything has changed; where does he play in 2018? Cousins is still in line for a big contract but now the offer is likely going to be coming from Cleveland and not San Francisco. There’s still a chance that Daniel Snyder offers him a bigger deal than he did last offseason but it’s not unbelievable to think another losing season results in another lowball offer.
The biggest takeaway from this trade: Cousins had better start making amends with folks in Washington starting tonight. He went from being in line for a payday in the bay to doing anything he can to avoid having to play for the Browns.
Cousins is putting together a season that likely ends with him being the highest paid player in NFL history. He’s on pace to throw for over 4,000 yards on a team where his best receiver is a running back. He’s looking like Aaron Rodgers-lite the way he makes something out of nothing with his receivers, and that’s going to be major leverage. The Jets, Cardinals, and Broncos could all be in the mix for Cousins this offseason, but his destiny changed in a big way once the trade call between New England and San Francisco went through.
