2018 NFL Mock Draft: Jets get their quarterback in the first round
By Brad Weiss
The New York Jets actually made out when the New England Patriots traded Jimmy Garoppolo on Monday, as the path is now clear for them to upgrade their quarterback position. As it stands, the organization is going to roll with Josh McCown for the near future, and have no intentions of making a move to the young quarterbacks on the roster. What that tells me is that the position is up for the taking next season, and they should bring in a talented arm with their first pick next spring.
That player could wind up being Josh Rosen, who is likely to leave UCLA with some eligibility still on the table. Rosen is in the middle of another frustrating year with the Bruins, who are one of the more inconsistent teams in the Pac-12. If he does decide to come out, he would definitely be picked within the first tens elections, and the Jets should be waiting with open arms.
There is a lot needed for this Jets team to be relevant again, but they have not played terrible football this season. Though they got rid of a lot of their veterans, the younger players have stepped up, and you have to be happy with how the defense is playing at this point. They are lacking a true playmaker under center, and while the Jets are content with McCown for now, this fan base is looking for their first true franchise quarterback since Joe Namath.
