2018 NFL Mock Draft: Jets get their quarterback in the first round
By Brad Weiss
The Los Angeles Chargers have been an up and down team once again in 2017, and that is despite the fact they have new leadership in the building. First-year head coach Anthony Lynn had his team rolling during their recent three-game win streak, but that went by the waste side with their loss to New England this past weekend. They are now sitting at 3-5 on the season, though thanks to their win against Oakland, they are actually not in the cellar in the AFC West.
As they look to the future, they have to do something about their offensive line. They went out and drafted some guards last year, though they both suffered injuries prior to the season. The real weakness falls at the offensive tackle position, and that is where they should draft in the first round. Connor Williams of Texas is dealing with a knee injury right now, but he is definitely worth picking in the first ten selections next April.
Williams has the size, and strength to stay on the left side at the next level, giving the Chargers a franchise tackle for the first time in years. Quarterback Philip Rivers is getting up there in age, but he has said that he has some good years left in him. Running back Melvin Gordon is one of the best in the AFC, and with a dominant pass rush on the other side of the ball, the Chargers are not so far away from being a playoff contender very soon.
