ESPN College Pick Em Week 10: Take Ohio State For 10 Over Iowa!

ESPN College Pick Em Week 10: Ohio State Rolls!
Week 9 was a bad week in Pick Em. I only had 32 points, which was still not my worst of the season. It was, however, the third worst in our FantasyCPR reader’s pick em group.

Fun facts for week 9: Georgia, Notre Dame, and Clemson all had clean sweeps. So did South Florida in a loss. Only Brian Prete picked West Virginia. No one had less than eight points on Clemson. annelbaldwin was the only one to pick Iowa State, and the only one besides me to pick Northwestern.
Newcomer annelbaldwin had 45 pick em points this week. He was the only one in the reader’s group over 40 points. His season total of 411 points places him just outside of the top 50, and gives us all something to shoot for. pitt2534, Gamebreaker_boz, earleyca, and SDShelton are all within four points of each other in the battle for second.
These picks will be for the confidence version of the game, where you assign a point value from 1-10 based on how confident you are in each pick.

I will keep track of the league standings every week on this page when I make my picks for the next week. So, come join us and see if you have what it takes to win a competitive group!
(1) Texas over TCU:
This is a tough one in Fort Worth, but that Texas defense is nasty. They might be the best in the conference. I don’t expect a shootout here, and as Iowa State proved last week, if you can stay close to TCU, they can be beaten. Texas is built well enough to win this game, but they need to play nearly flawless to do it. And hey, Texas beat the Iowa State team that just beat TCU.
(2) Washington State over Stanford:
Stanford looked awful against Oregon State last week. I know that losing Bryce Love had a lot to do with that, but Washington State is good at stopping the run. Stanford still can’t throw the ball, and I think they would have to at some point to win this game. That’s why I’m taking the Cougars.
(3) Oklahoma over Oklahoma State:
They call it Bedlam for a reason. Crazy things can, and do, happen in this series. I think the Oklahoma secondary was strong for the last three quarters against Texas Tech. The Sooner defense also did a really good job against the run and rushing the passer. Mason Rudolph is a tough one to get to, but Oklahoma State hasn’t really played well in about a month. That opens the door for Oklahoma in Stillwater.
(4) Clemson over North Carolina State:
The Wolfpack almost took out Clemson last year in Clemson. This year NC State is a much better team and is at home. This time Clemson will be looking out for them. I think Clemson takes a close one here, but I’m keeping the points low just in case. This is a team that could beat Clemson.
(5) Virginia Tech over Miami:
The Hurricanes have been awful offensively in the last month and in the last two weeks, especially. It isn’t all the injury to Mark Walton. The Virginia Tech defense is good enough to handcuff them where Georgia Tech and North Carolina could not. Not only will Miami lose this game, I could conceivably see them getting blown out.
(6) Iowa State over West Virginia:
The Cyclones are actually leading the Big 12(10). They picked a fine time to have a conference championship game, didn’t they? Right now it would be a rematch between Iowa State and Oklahoma, a game the Cyclones came back from 18 down to win on the road. If the Cyclones can beat Oklahoma in Norman and Texas Tech in Lubbock, I have to think they can take down West Virginia in Mortgantown.
(7) Auburn over Texas A&M:
Auburn’s defense is still solid. Texas A&M will put up a fight at home, but I still don’t really see them winning this game. Auburn has a balanced offense and a solid defense. Texas A&M has a freshman quarterback, no running game, and a questionable defense. That is too much to overcome.
(8) Penn State over Michigan State:
A vanilla offensive game plan after building a lead was a problem for Penn State. Even when defenses have shut down Saquon Barkley, Penn State finds a way to get him involved. They will have to do the same here. Both teams were exposed last week. Michigan State doesn’t have enough to exploit Penn State’s weakness. Penn State has more than enough to pick on Michigan State’s.
(9) Alabama over LSU:
The Tide have LSU’s number. They have for the last ten years. The Tigers are playing better football of late, but Alabama doesn’t really have a weakness. The only team I see that could possibly give them problems is Georgia, and even that is a stretch. This could get ugly. Ugly enough to get Orgeron fired.
(10) Ohio State over Iowa:
This could be a letdown game for Ohio State, and it still wouldn’t matter. Iowa has had problems moving the ball against teams like North Texas and Wyoming. What do you think the Buckeyes are going to do to them? The Buckeyes could have a down game and still win by 20.
