With today being Halloween, there is no better time to look back at James Bond’s best disguises, in which he’s used a costume as a means of concealing his identity. Trick or Treat? Let’s rank them.

8. The seagull (Goldfinger)

Well, OK, this one may be taking some liberties: Bond doesn’t actually dress as a seagull. Ā But he does, in a sense, disguise himself as one. In the pre-title sequence for Goldfinger, Bond first appears on screen in a scuba outfit with a seagull attached to his mask andĀ  equipment.

  • 7. Colonel Luis Toro (Octopussy)

Bond dons a fake moustache as he disguises himself as a colonel and flies off with a secret plane.

    6. Limousine driver (Skyfall)

In Shanghai, Bond disguises himself as a limo driver, as he identifies and tracks Patrice, who has arrived on a ā€œjob.ā€ With sunglasses and a black hat, Bond blends in well and goes undetected.

    5. Plastic surgeon (Diamonds Are Forever)

In his attempt to find Blofeld, Bond knocks out a plastic surgeon and steals his identity. Bond ends up in green scrubs and a surgical mask.

    4. Turning Japanese (You Only Live Twice)

Yes, it is one of the more shameful (or laughable) moments in Bond cinematic history: James Bond gets a new hairstyle and disguises himself as a Japanese villager.

    3. Sir Hillary Bray (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service)

James Bond in a kilt and glasses? Yes, absolutely. And somehow, it works, as he gains access to Blofeld’s lair at Piz Gloria.

    2. The clown (Octopussy)

Some consider Bond’s clown costume to be a low point in Roger Moore’s tenure. But it worked, and three decades later, in an era of Pennywise, it’s cooler than ever.

    1. Dia de los Muertos (Spectre)

The pre-title sequence forĀ Spectre features bond in a full Dia de los Muertos costume, complete with top hat. The only negative to this opening scene is how quickly Bond takes off the costume, to reveal a Tom Ford suit underneath. Bummer.
