OpTic Gaming has officially unveiled the logo, name and roster for its Overwatch League team in Houston.
OpTic Gaming is one of the world’s premiere esports organizations, and its franchise in the Overwatch League is sure to be an extension of that. On Tuesday, Oct. 31, the organization revealed many of the details for its franchise ahead of the league’s first season.
The team will be known as the Houston Outlaws, in reference to the fearless and rebellious nature of the city’s legacy. The colors are in keeping with OpTic’s black and green shades, accentuated by other Texan elements like the “lone star,” longhurn skull and double revolvers.
The Texan elements are another strong symbol pointing toward the franchise’s goal to be the Overwatch team of Texas, as earlier laid out by OpTic COO Ryan Musselman. While the team is based in Houston, the roster of talented players are from various places around the world.
The 10 players on the roster are:
- Austin “Muma” Wilmot
- Matt “Coolmatt” Iorio
- Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty
- Lucas “Mendokusaii” Håkansson
- Jiri “LiNkzr” Masalin
- Daniel “Boink” Pence
- Chris “Bani” Bennell
- Jacob “JAKE” Lyon
- Matt “Clockwork” Dias
- Alexandre “SPREE” Vanhomwegen
The team has three coaches, who are Taeyeong “TaiRong” Kim, Adam “MESR” De La Torre and Hyeonwoo “HyeonWoo” Kim. The general manager of the franchise is Matt “Flame” Rodriguez.
“I’m incredibly excited to finally be able to reveal this roster, and I could not be prouder of the final result,” said Rodriguez. “Every player has such a distinct personality, and all of them are pumped to be able to call each other teammates. The mindset and the attitude of the team have been inspiring thus far, and we will continue developing and promoting a winning mentality throughout the inaugural season of the Overwatch League and beyond for the city of Houston.”
Fans can now follow the franchise on its social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitch, Twitter and YouTube.
