Texas has ridden near the .500 mark for most of the season, despite having a 3-2 record in the Big 12. With just one multi-game winning streak, the Longhorns sit at 4-4, having defeated Baylor in Week 9.

Before this, Texas played Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and USC to tough and close games, so the 4-4 record may not be indicative of what it’s done in 2017. However, the Week 1 loss to Maryland brings them down, even if it was about two months ago.

Texas will face No. 10 TCU on Saturday, looking to get one step closer to bowl eligibility. It won’t be easy against a team that just suffered its first loss, so let’s see if Tom Herman’s group rise to the occasion.

West Virginia has played well for most of the season. None of its three losses have come by more than 11 points, all of which were against ranked teams. It puts them outside the AP Poll and the top four of the Big 12, however.

Quarterback Will Grier play has kept the Mountaineers in most of their games. However, against Oklahoma State, his play did more harm than good, turning the ball over four times. The running game didn’t help, either, with just 62 yards on 30 carries.

A game against Iowa State is next. This team defeated Oklahoma and TCU, and look like one of the hottest teams in not just the conference, but college football. So, WVU might be facing a fourth loss.
