South Park just aired their Halloween special in which they parodied the Harvey Weinstein scandal. But can fans expect another episode this week?

Last Wednesday was the last week South Park could capitalize on the Halloween trend, so it only makes sense why they would air their Halloween episode. Just like with their last holiday episode, that aired on Columbus Day, they nailed it. They justified carrying out the Heidi-Cartman story by making him suffer through the one thing men hate the most — being forced to wait while their partner takes forever to get ready.

Still, the primary focus was on Randy Marsh and his friends, who dress up as witches every Halloween so they can drink and smoke crack. But when one of them becomes an actual witch and starts kidnapping children, they try their best to distance themselves from him while getting annoyed by the fact that they get ostracized as well. It evokes images of how others in Hollywood reacted to the Harvey Weinstein scandal and believing that everyone else is on a “witch pursuit thingy.”

Instead of following that up with a new episode, though, South Park will be taking a week off before returning on Nov. 8. The reason being is that, like with every season, they’ve incorporated “dark weeks” into their schedule. The last one came after episode 3, while the next one will come after episode 8. You would think that they’d follow the pattern and place it after episode 9, but perhaps that’s an indication that the season will end with a two-parter.

The most obvious example of why they’d take a week off this week is because of the World Series. Through five games, the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers have played an all-time classic series. A potential Game 7 would fall on Nov. 1, and they know that the whole nation would be captivated by it which would in turn draw attention away from their own show.

Perhaps South Park will come back with a baseball-related episode because of that. Although it’s more likely that they’ll find another relevant social issue to tackle.
