Bills at Jets: Preview, prediction, odds and pick

BUFFALO, NY - OCTOBER 22: Jerry Hughes
BUFFALO, NY - OCTOBER 22: Jerry Hughes

We’re getting ready to see the New York Jets host the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football. Which team will prevail in this contest?

Talk about a bit of irony? Back in Week 1 at Orchard Park, the Buffalo Bills defeated the New York Jets, 21-12. Later that afternoon, the Carolina Panthers defeated the San Francisco 49ers, 23-3, at Levi’s Stadium. Panthers’ wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin caught one pass for 25 yards against a defense in which the Niners’ starting left cornerback was Rashard Robinson.

On Tuesday, Benjamin was dealt to the Buffalo Bills just before the trade deadline. Meanwhile, the Jets acquired Robinson from Sam Francisco. So while these AFC East rivals will renew acquaintances on Thursday evening at MetLife Stadium, we could see Benjamin and Robinson clash for the second time in nine weeks as well.

Meanwhile, Todd Bowles’ team figures to have its hands full against a team that rolled up 190 yards on the ground in this year’s first encounter.

Odds

Line: Bills (-3)

Over/Under: 43

The Bills may be on the road and have lost two of their three games away from home. But McDermott’s club is still a 3-point favorite according to OddsShark. Considering these clubs combined for only 33 points in Week 1, could the over/under be a little out of reach?

The Buffalo Bills are looking like an extremely viable threat to the New England Patriots in the much-improved AFC East. And that means if they are to remain in this divisional race, they must win the games that they’re expected to prevail in. They will get a very strong effort from the New York Jets. But Todd Bowles’ offensive line will have its hands full fending off that Buffalo pass rush all evening.

Pick: Bills 26, Jets 21
