Here’s how the top 10 Group of Five teams stack up following an eventful Week 9.

While the nation was understandably fixated on Ohio State-Penn State and Iowa State-TCU, utter chaos played out in the college football Group of Five in Week 9.

A whopping five teams included in last week’s power rankings went down on Saturday, leading to wholesale changes. The most important of those results was South Florida falling 28-24 at home to Houston, as the preseason favorite Bulls now have no margin for error if they are to make the New Year’s Six.

Other conference leaders had plenty of trouble, including red-hot Fresno State suffering a bad 26-16 home defeat to UNLV. Marshall’s perfect run through Conference USA came to an end against Florida International, while Appalachian State at least managed to keep its upset out of Sun Belt play with a road loss to UMass.

Colorado State also suffered its first defeat of Mountain West play against Air Force, leaving Boise State as the favorite to take the conference. The race in every single G5 conference now looks much different than it did a week ago, with the list of New Year’s Six contenders shrinking significantly.

Through all the chaos, the UCF Knights remained constant at the top as the last remaining undefeated team in the Group of Five. Here’s how the top 10 G5 teams grade out heading into week 10.
