Now that season two of the surprise Netflix hit Stranger Things has been released, it is worth noting that some of the series’ actors have connections to the James Bond franchise. Let’s take a look.

David Harbour

Of course, this is the big name that comes to everyone’s mind. Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, was also in Quantum of Solace, as Gregory Beam, a corrupt CIA agent. But Beam was not only corrupt, but also sarcastic, and Harbour played the character with bite.

  • “That’s James Bond,” Beam says, when shown a picture of Bond on a cell phone. “I don’t know how I could have missed that.”

Later, Beam is shown obsessively swatting flies, while complaining about the water. It is this same brooding sarcasm that he brings to the role of  Hopper.

    Some other notable connections:

    Paul Reiser

Paul Reiser starred in a 1983 episode of Remington Steele : “A Good Night’s Steele.” One of the show’s stars, of course, was Pierce Brosnan, who would screen test for James Bond three years later. Reiser’s role of Ivan Turbell marked his TV debut.

    Randy Havens

Randy Havens, who played teacher Mr. Clarke in season one, was a cashier, opposite Daniel Craig, in this year’s Logan Lucky.

    Sean Astin

Astin has appeared with a number of Bond villains through the years. He went up against Franz Sanchez himself, Robert Davi, in Goonies, back in 1985. He was also pitted against Sean Bean and Christopher Lee in part or all of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

    Catherine Curtin

Curtin, who appears in five episodes of season two, had a small role in Sam Mendes’ Revolutionary Road.
