The Navy Midshipmen scored 26 points but their rushing touchdown streak came to an end, so everything we know is a lie.
Well, Week 10 of the college football season is off to a crazy start, as we had an upset in the AAC Thursday evening. Out in Philadelphia, the Temple Owls pulled off the impressive win over the Navy Midshipmen, 34-36, which was quite the shocker in itself. But, believe it or not, that probably wasn’t the craziest happening on Thursday night in Philly.
Despite the loss, with Navy scoring 26 points, you’d assume most of those points came by the way of rushing touchdowns. Coming into the weekend, Navy was the top rushing team in the country at 376.1 yards per game, and we all know that traditionally that’s just what Navy does — they run the ball down your throat, win or lose.
Yeah, that wasn’t the case in this loss. As a matter of fact, this Midshipmen team on Thursday night was held to just 136 yards on the ground, and more shockingly, none of those 26 points came with a rushing score. With Navy not scoring a rushing touchdown, that brings their FBS-leading streak to an end at 69 games.
CORRECTION: Navy’s rush TD streak ENDED tonight at 69 straight games.

Yes, folks, not one Navy rushing touchdown this evening. Its scoring on Thursday night came from two field goals in the first half, a 5-yard Zach Abey touchdown pass in the third quarter and two Garret Lewis touchdown passes in the fourth quarter as the Midshipmen tried to mount a comeback.
This stat probably wouldn’t be as absurd had Navy been shutout or been held to, say, 9 points on field goals. But, to see this team score 26 total points and not put a rushing touchdown on the stat sheet is pretty mind-blowing given the program’s history.
Everything is a lie.
