Now that the 2017 baseball season has come to an end, it’s time to think about the 2018 baseball season. Let’s talk about Opening Day 2018!

There’s no better time to start thinking about Major League Baseball Opening Day than immediately following the conclusion of the World Series. Now that we have crowned a champion of the 2017 season, it’s time to start thinking about 2018. First things first: When is Opening Day 2018?

Opening Day 2018 is going to be a big deal for two reasons. It’s the earliest Opening Day ever, and it also marks a return to having all 30 teams in action on the same day.

The 2018 Major League Baseball season kicks off on Thursday, March 29. The past few years have seen Opening Day fall on a Monday, with a special presentation of Sunday night baseball, or Baseball Night in America, as a spotlight on several teams. In 2018, all 30 teams will play on Opening Day, which hasn’t happened since 1968.

The season is starting so much earlier because of an arrangement made through the Collective Bargaining Agreement that gives players a few more days off. The earlier start date brings an earlier end to the season, with all 30 teams finishing by Sept. 30. The Sept. 30 end date means that the World Series will finish in October in 2018.

This year, the interleague games will match their locations, so you have the National League West facing off against the American League West, and so forth. Another item of note is that the Twins and Indians are scheduled to play two games in Puerto Rico April 17-18, which would be a very welcome sight after the recent hurricanes devastated the island.
