On Thursday night at MetLife Stadium, the New York Jets defeated the Buffalo Bills. What did we learn from this AFC East rematch?
Off to a 5-2 start and buoyed by the recent acquisition of wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin from the Carolina Panthers, Sean McDermott’s Buffalo Bills made their way to the New Jersey Meadowlands to face the New York Jets for the second time this season. On opening weekend at Orchard Park, running back LeSean McCoy and the team’s ground attack rolled up 190 yards on the ground in a 21-12 victory.
It marked the sixth time in the last eight meetings that the Bills had prevailed in this series. Now, this club looks to sweep this longtime rivalry for the third time in four years. Did quarterback Tyrod Taylor and his up-and-coming squad get the job done?
Nope. Led by a relentless ground attack and an opportunistic defense, the Jets avenged that Week 1 loss at Buffalo with a convincing 34-21 victory.

Three Stars
1. Matt Forte
The veteran running back was part of a ground attack that rolled up 194 yards on the evening. This against the NFL’s third-ranked rushing defense. Forte carried 14 times for 77 yards and two touchdowns in the convincing win.
2. Jordan Jenkins
The second-year pro and 2016 third-round draft choice racked up two tackles, a pair of sacks and a forced fumble in New York’s win. The Jets’ defense totaled seven quarterback traps in the game. In their first eight contests this season, Todd Bowles’ squad managed only 11 sacks.
3. Demario Davis
He and fellow linebacker Darron Lee each finished with eight tackles and a sack. Davis also recovered a fumble, part of three takeaways by the Jets in their 34-21 Thursday night victory.

Odds
The Bills were a 3-point favorite to complete the two-game sweep of their longtime divisional rivals. The over/under late on Thursday afternoon slipped a bit to 42.5 (courtesy of OddsShark) and keep in mind that these are two defensive unit capable of putting points on the board by themselves.
Next Week
The Buffalo Bills return home with some extra time to prepare for one of the hotter teams in the league as quarterback Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints’ rejuvenated defense invade upstate New York. Meanwhile, the New York Jets make their way south and square off with Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
