Thor: Ragnarok is getting rave reviews as the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe release, but who dies in the film that everyone seems to love?

SPOILER WARNING: This post contains major spoilers from Thor: Ragnarok, as you may have guessed. If you don’t want to know about any major plot points (specifically who dies in the film), then you’d be best served just turning away now.

Oftentimes when it comes to the movies, a trailer can be misleading. You can be presented with the best parts of a film, with the filler around it being horrible. Similarly, there are instances of the trailer simply not doing a good job of portraying what the movie is actually like. However, the excitement behind the trailers for Thor: Ragnarok was not misguided in this way.

As we take on the third chapter concerning the hero from Asgard portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, the film has been getting rave reviews. It’s a fresh look at the hero, and a fresh way to tell a superhero story. And the result is a film that is truly enjoyable from start-to-finish, with plenty of twists and turns along the way.

However, with this new take on how to tell a story comes much curiosity. Subsequently — whether you’ve seen the film yet or not — you may be wondering if that means that anyone dies in Thor: Ragnarok. More specifically, you may be wondering who dies in the movie.

Simply put, there’s actually a fair amount of death in the film, and many of them sad. Odin, Thor’s father and ruler of Asgard, dies in the film. What’s more, the Warriors Three — who you may know simply as the titular hero’s group of companions — also don’t make it through the film.

One of the more tragic deaths of the film comes in the form of The Executioner. I’ll leave why it’s tragic a mystery, but he doesn’t make it through. As for Hela, the primary villain of the movie, his death is left a little bit up in the air. Having said that, assuming that he also perishes in the film would be safe.

So there you have it. That’s who doesn’t make it through Thor: Ragnarok. With Avengers: Infinity War looming, Marvel could well be setting us up to prepare for more death. At least that’s the way things seem with how many people don’t make it out of the latest MCU release alive.
