Raiders at Dolphins: Preview, prediction, odds and pick
We’re getting ready to see the Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins on Sunday Night Football. Which team will prevail in this contest?
Both the Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins are coming off lopsided losses as they prepare for a Sunday night clash in South Florida. The former lost by 20 points (34-14) in Buffalo to the improving Bills. The latter doubled that displeasure more than a week ago with a 40-0 setback at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens.
Last week, Jack Del Rio’s team was without running back Marshawn Lynch. He was suspended for putting his hands on an official during the team’s 31-30 win over the Chiefs in Week 7. This Sunday, the Dolphins will be minus former Pro Bowler Jay Ajayi. That’s because he’s no longer a member of the team. The third-year pro was dealt to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in the week.
It could be an evening of intense drama in South Florida this weekend. More importantly, this is a matchup between a pair of playoff clubs from a year ago looking to get their act together.
Odds
Line: Raiders (-3)
Over/Under: 44
It’s somewhat odd to see these odds. Despite losing five of their last six games, the staff at OddsShark tells us that the Silver and Black is the better team here. Given how the Raiders’ defense has played this season, the over could be a strong play.

The Miami Dolphins have had more than a week to get off the battering in Baltimore. Meanwhile, the Oakland Raiders continue to disappoint and their defense remains problematic. Regardless of who is running the football on Sunday night, coordinator Ken Norton Jr.’s unit remains vulnerable both on the ground and through the air. On the other hand, Carr will have a tough time avoiding the likes of Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake as the Raiders’ offensive front has fallen off from a year ago as well. Look for Gase and company to rebound with a sound victory.
Pick: Dolphins 30, Raiders 21
