It was another interesting week in college football, and with only a handful of weeks remaining, the College Football Playoff is still anybody’s guess.

There were plenty of teams during Week 10 of the college football season that could have made a run towards the College Football Playoff, but unfortunately, they fell short. Both the Penn State Nittany Lions and Ohio State Buckeyes had been in the discussion for a spot in the final four, but both lost their Big Ten games on Saturday. Ohio State was destroyed by the Iowa Hawkeyes inside Kinnick Stadium, and the Nittany Lions lost by a field goal to Michigan State on the road.

Over in the Big 12, the Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys combined for over 110 points in Bedlam. The Sooners outlasted the Cowboys by a 62-52 margin, but you have to be worried about Mike Stoops’ defense at this point. Iowa State had been a nice surprise this season in the conference, but they were beaten by a fired up West Virginia team on Saturday.

The ACC had two marquee matchups this weekend, and both teams that won should be in consideration for the final four. Miami beat a very good Virginia Tech team, and the Clemson Tigers went on the road to beat an NC State team that had not lost in ACC play. Alabama and Georgia continued to roll, and Auburn had a convincing win against the Texas A&M Aggies in SEC play.

As we head towards the final few weeks of the college football season, the games are only going to get bigger. We saw so many ranked teams fall on Saturday, and for those who have some trip up games still left on their schedule, they better watch out. At this point, the spots are anybody’s guess, but we can be sure that at least one SEC team is going to be a lock when the committee meets at the end of the season.
