Here is when Michigan State and Penn State are expected to resume their Big Ten showdown from Easy Lansing where a rain delay has delayed the action.
One of the best games of the weekend was the Big Ten game from Spartan Stadium where Michigan State was hosting Saquon Barkley and the Penn State Nittany Lions. The game began at noon local time and a Trace McSorley touchdown pass to DaeSean Hamilton put Penn State up 7-0 about 10 minutes into the game.
The two teams traded touchdowns on the next two possessions, then they traded punts, and that’s where the game stands at the moment. Rain and thunder and lightning has delayed the game ever since and it doesn’t look like the forecast is going to clear anytime soon.
The latest update from FOX sideline reporter Bruce Feldman is that the game won’t resume until 5:30 p.m. EST.
More bad news on #PennState #MichiganState weather: officials just told me their Next meeting’s at 4 pm ET .. hopefully a 530 pm restart now

Yikes. I feel so bad for the fans in attendance and those working the game. The sticking point is the lightning. If there is a strike of lightning around the stadium, that will reset the clock another 30 minutes. So even if it’s raining, as long as there isn’t any lightning in the area, the game should resume on or around that time.
When the game does resume there will be 7:58 left in the second quarter, so it’s very likely that the game that started at noon won’t be finished until 8:00 p.m.
Next: Teams that can become bowl-eligible in Week 10
That’s a long night for the fans, players, coaches and even those of us watching from the comfort of our warm and dry homes.
Penn State leads 14-7 and is still waiting for Heisman hopeful Saquon Barkley to get involved in the action. He had three carries for one yard. Barkley does have a 20-yard pass and two catches for 13 yards, but he’s going to have to turn it on when this game resumes if he hopes to recapture the juice he had the first seven games of the year.
