The Cardinals and 49ers battled in the Bay on Sunday after San Francisco changed their franchise with the Jimmy Garoppolo trade. Who came out on top?

The Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers played in an NFC West matchup on Sunday, with the Niners still in search of their first win of the year in Week 9.

In the end, the Cardinals proved to be too much for the 49ers, with Adrian Peterson running all over their defense and Drew Stanton (of all people) throwing multiple touchdown passes on the day to lead the Cards in a 20-10 win.

Not much really happened in the game outside of 37 (!!!) carries for Peterson, but there were a couple of highlights that you can check out below if you missed the action from the game.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson has fully embraced his new home in Arizona after the trade away from the New Orleans Saints. He was rolling “All Day” in San Francisco on Sunday. He carried the ball 37 times for 159 yards, and shouldered a big load for the Cardinals.

2. Drew Stanton

With Carson Palmer absent from the offense, Drew Stanton stepped in nicely for the Cardinals. He threw two touchdowns on the day to push forward the scoring in a big divisional road game, and looked about as solid as you can against a team and defense with no wins to their name through nine games.

3. Larry Fitzgerald

Larry Fitzgerald made history in the game on Sunday against the 49ers, passing Tim Brown to reach sixth on the list of all-time receiving yards leaders. Next up is Tony Gonzalez, and a big game for Fitzy next week against the Seattle Seahawks could push him past the Chiefs tight end.

Next Week

The Cardinals will hope to utilize the momentum from the win on a short week when they head home to play the Seahawks on Thursday night, while the 49ers will have their best chance for their first win of the year when they play the Giants in Week 10.
