With only two episodes left, Gamby’s world is crumbling around him. Find out where you can watch the penultimate episode, “Venetian Nights” here.
In the last episode of Vice Principals, “Spring Break,” Gamby had the rug yanked out from under him with a reveal that should not have been too shocking to the audience. Though the man himself has yet to fess up (though this may be simply because he has not been confronted about it directly), we all but conclusively learned that Russell was the person who shot Gamby in season 1.
Though the show has been gradually positioning Russell as the sole villain throughout this season, in “Spring Break” it wasn’t even subtle. Not only was Russell cold and ungrateful toward Gamby, but he also acted creepily towards Gamby’s daughter and her friends.
The interesting thing will be to follow how Gamby processes this. The show still has two episodes left (including tonight’s), so they will have to show some of the fall out. You also have to assume it will end with Gamby, victorious, as Principal. However, Russell was one of his closest friends. Gamby’s refusal to confront Russell about this immediately signals that he may have more trouble accepting Russell’s involvement than you might think.

The synopsis for episode 8, “Venetian Nights” states that the schools prom will cause tension between Russell and Gamby. However, I think the knowledge that your closest friend tried to have you killed will do that perfectly well by itself. In the promo for the episode, you can see the beginnings of an epic showdown. Gamby is using his newfound popularity with the faculty to recruit allies, while Russell seems to be recruiting students. However this may just be a pep rally taken out of context, your never quite sure what Russell will do. Either way, the (relative) peace at North Jackson High School will be short-lived.
