Week 10 of the college football season was an up and down weekend for many of the coaches on the hot seat.

The college football regular season is in the double digits now and that means it’s almost bowl season. It’s also firing season and several coaches across the nation on the hot seat will soon be ushered right out the door.

For five name coaches, this week was not a good week at all. With their job statuses already in jeopardy as is, all five had an awful week. Yes, two of the five picked up wins. However, they were close games over teams they should have blown out.

It’s easier to put a coach in the winner’s category early on in the season when there is still hope. However, with the calendar saying November and hope seemingly not existing at this point, there are no winners at the moment. Here are five losers from this week’s slate of games.

Loser – Mike Riley

After losing to Ohio State and Wisconsin, Mike Riley saw his squad pull out a road win at Purdue. While nothing to get excited about, it was a golden opportunity for the program to push themselves toward that six-win mark.

They had a chance to get to five and within a game this past week against Northwestern. Instead, they dropped another game on their own home turf and now they’ll really have to put in some work if they’re going to make a bowl game.

Riley’s odds of returning weren’t great to begin with and each loss makes him all the more closer to being let go. This feels like an end of the season firing, so it won’t be surprising to see him finish out the slate.
