As he works his way back from a right shoulder issue, Markelle Fultz is going another direction with his jump shot.

When it comes to Markelle Fultz’s shoulder issue and resulting awkward form at the free-throw line, after he had been tweaking his form or going back to what he did in college, it’s a chicken or the egg scenario. Did the shoulder issue cause the bad form? Or did tweaking his mechanics cause the shoulder issue to come?

Fultz was shut down eight days ago due to the shoulder injury, and he will be re-evaluated in two weeks now. He is out indefinitely anyway, and the 76ers will surely ease him back into action once he is deemed ready to go.

But Fultz was on the practice floor doing some work on Monday, and he made a bit of news with how he was shooting jump shots.

Yep, that’s Fultz’s shooting three-pointers from the top of the key…left-handed. There is some more witness evidence of how Fultz was shooting during drills.

As could probably be predicted, 76ers head coach Brett Brown essentially said there’s nothing to see here regarding Fultz shooting jumpers left-handed.

It seems Fultz has simply not been cleared to shoot jump shots right-handed. That is not surprising, since his shoulder is probably not to that recovery point with a back-and-forth regarding whether he had fluid drained or a cortisone shot. As such, there are apparently no plans to make Fultz into a southpaw shooter.

Fultz looked bad (and frankly incredibly uncomfortable) at the foul line before being shut down, and there were some rumored issues with his jump shot in terms of form and confidence going back to just before the season started. So he should be open to any solution to become a good, consistent shooter, even if that means working to permanently become a left-hander.
