Eric Bledsoe’s exile with the Phoenix Suns is over. According to reports from ESPN, he is headed to the Milwaukee Bucks to join their growing core.

Eric Bledsoe made his intentions very clear early in the season. He wanted out of the Phoenix Suns. The scoring point guard was clearly not in the team’s future plans and there were still some bad feelings after the Suns made him a healthy scratch at the end of last season.

The frustration clearly boiled over this year. Bledsoe publicly stated his desire to leave Phoenix and essentially got booted off the team. He was suspended indefinitely and only recently started working out in the Suns’ facility again.

It appears the saga is over. Eric Bledsoe will be back on the court again soon as the Phoenix Suns finally found a deal for him.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe of ESPN, the Phoenix Suns will trade Bledsoe to the Milwaukee Bucks for Greg Monroe and a first-round pick.

Bledsoe has long been one of the best scoring point guards in the league. Last season, he averaged 21.1 points per game and 6.3 assists per game, shooting 43.4 percent from the floor with a 48.5 percent effective field goal percentage. In three games this year, Bledsoe is averaging 15.7 points per game and 3.0 assists per game.

It was clear Bledsoe was not very happy with his role or his place with the Suns organization. And the relationship quickly became very toxic.

The Bucks are a bit of a surprise destination. For the longest time, it was assumed the Cleveland Cavaliers would fish out a package to acquire the guard to boost their guard position before Isaiah Thomas returns. The Cavaliers certainly could have used the influx of talent.

But the Bucks also could use Bledsoe and a more traditional point guard.

Milwaukee is 4-5 so far this season. The Bucks still use Giannis Antetokounmpo pretty heavily at point guard, but rely on a mix of Malcolm Brogdon and Matthew Dellavedova starting at point guard. They could use a natural point guard to shift Brogdon more to his natural shooting guard position.

A starting lineup of Eric Bledsoe, Malcolm Brogdon, Khris Middleton, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Thon Maker has a lot of offensive and defensive potential. This deal should continue to lift Milwaukee into the stratosphere of the Eastern Conference.

The Suns are clearly rebuilding and are clearly looking for more salary cap relief and young players rather than a straight talent-for-talent swap.

Greg Monroe has had a solid run with the Bucks but failed to live up to expectations. He is in the final year of his contract and will give the Suns immediate cap relief this summer.

The Bucks have certainly made their push now to go in for Eastern Conference glory. Bledsoe is another dominant scoring weapon to put around Antetokounmpo.
