Topps MLB All-Star Rookie team announced

Topps has released the roster for its 2017 MLB All-Star Rookie team. Find out how fans can memorialize the honorees.

Just a day after New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge was named the cover athlete for MLB The Show 18, Judge became part of another select company as a member of the Topps MLB All-Star Rookie team for 2017.

Judge was one of three outfielders selected for the team, joining his American League East division opponents Andrew Benintendi of the Boston Red Sox and Trey Mancini of the Baltimore Orioles.

Going around the infield in order as a baseball game is scored, the team’s catcher is Manny Pina of the Milwaukee Brewers. Cody Bellinger of the Los Angeles Dodgers occupies first base, while the Chicago Cubs’ Ian Happ holds down second base.

At third base is Benintendi’s teammate Rafael Devers, and the St. Louis Cardinals’ Paul DeJong makes his appearance at shortstop.

For the team’s pitching staff, one starter from each side of the mound plus a reliever were chosen. The Colorado Rockies’ German Marquez is the right-handed starter and the Yankees’ Jordan Montgomery is the left-handed starter. Milwaukee’s Josh Hader is the bullpen piece.

“This is one of the most impressive Topps MLB All-Star Rookie Team classes I have seen,” said David Leiner, Vice President and General Manager of Topps North American Sports & Entertainment in a press release. “It shows how incredibly popular baseball was this year with its young breakout stars. They join an incredible group of players who have won the Topps Rookie Cup in the past and will have the special logo appear on their Topps trading cards next season.”

While having a player — or two in the case of the Brewers, Red Sox and Yankees — is exciting enough for fans of the teams represented, the excitement only begins there. To commemorate these selections, Topps has used its popular direct-to-consumer Topps Now product line.

Collectors and fans can go online to the site and order a set of the special cards depicting each member of the team, which come in a base set for $39.99 and an autograph version for $99.99.
