He almost had to keep at it after he did it thanks to a “troublesome cuticle.”
Never let it be said that Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors isn’t a media savvy head coach.
In reality, that’s probably never been said, as Kerr has displayed a deft touch handling the press during his time in charge of the Warriors. He’s outspoken when he feels a need to get a point across, but he generally says only as much as he wants to say.
He’s also not above having some fun with the press, or at least that’s what he appeared to be doing Wednesday night before his team’s home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Asked a question about who would start the game for Golden State, he actually produced a pair of nail clippers and said it was to allow the media to have time to tweet before his next response.

You can hear the reporters laughing in the background of the clip, so they obviously took it in good spirits. Presumably, Kerr intended it as a gentle jab at how the media operates in the current social media-obsessed climate, where reporters’ tweets are as much a part of their jobs as game stories. — and more important to get out pronto.

Props to the guy who pipes up and actually says, “I’m done.” As anyone who has covered a sports team’s pre-game pressers can tell you, there’s always one in any media room.
