The CW’s Riverdale continues its second season on Wednesday night with episode 5, “When a Stranger Calls.” Find out all the details about how to watch the episode online.
Since the arrival of Toni a couple episodes ago, the future of Bughead has dominated a lot of the conversations about Riverdale season 2. That makes sense seeing as trouble for Jughead and Betty’s relationship has been talked about since Comic-Con. But this week, it is Archie and Veronica’s relationship that could be in trouble.
The title of the episode refers to a stranger calling. Obviously this ties into the Black Hood calling Betty, but it also can relate to Veronica’s storyline. There will be a new face in Riverdale this week: Veronica’s old friend, Nick St. Clair (Graham Phillips, The Good Wife).
Seeing as Riverdale is at its core a teen drama, it would not be surprising for Nick to have a romantic history with Veronica. It could be that Hiram brings Nick to town just to put a wrench in his daughter’s relationship with Archie. Hiram has proven that he like to disrupt the status quo and is not entirely supportive of Veronica and Archie’s relationship.
While Nick is in Riverdale, he plans a wild night. It sounds reminiscent of Veronica’s behavior early in season 1, back when she was still bitter about leaving New York, and partying all night was her way of punishing her mother.
Now, if Veronica wanted to hurt her parents, she would likely go after one of their business ventures. Like, say, the SoDale project. So instead of spending her time partying, Veronica’s time may be better spent helping Jughead keep the Southside from descending into chaos. The exact opposite of what Hiram wants to see happen.
