DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: November 9

We’ve got another five game slate tonight on DraftKings. I encourage you to track injury updates closely to help you find potentially profitable value plays. If you want to be successful in NBA DFS, it is important stay connected all the way up until game lock. Last night was one of the craziest five game slates in terms of injury news.

Wednesday night’s NBA $150K Sharpshooter finished with a cash line of 259.75 DraftKings points and a top score of 325.75 DraftKings points. The winning lineup got great value from Aron Baynes and Omri Casspi paired with a balanced roster.

Be aware of players with multiple position eligibility. Throughout this column, players might not be listed at their true position due to a lack off depth at another spot. Using positional flexibility could give you the edge to take down a DraftKings NBA GPP plays.

Let’s jump into tonight’s slate!

DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: November 9 – Point Guards

Elite

John Wall ($9,500) vs. LAL

Wall didn’t have the massive game we expected in his fist meeting against the Lakers. In fact, he had his worst fantasy performance of the season with only 35.75 DraftKings points. It’s Wall’s second chance to take it Lonzo Ball. He as 14 and 15 assists in his last two games and is averaging 45.2 DraftKings points per game. This is a pace-up game for the Wizards in which Wall gets a bump in value.

Ben Simmons ($9,000) vs. SAC

One of the most consistent guys this season, Simmons has been more than impressive in his rookie campaign. He flirts with a triple-double nearly every night, giving him a very high floor. I typically prefer Simmons in cash games, but it’s hard to ignore 50 to 60 DraftKings points at $9,000. His ceiling might not be as high as other guys in his range, but the consistency is what makes him elite.

Mid-Tier

Lonzo Ball ($6,000) vs. WAS

Rostering Ball should make you uncomfortable as his shooting performance has been dismal this season. He’s cracked 40 percent from the field only twice and hasn’t reached double digits points scored over the past four games. Ball is at his lowest price of the season, but his peripheral stats should help him exceed value. He provides solid rebounding and assist numbers and if he can get a few shots to fall, he could help break the slate.

Value

Jordan Clarkson ($4,400) vs. WAS

Clarkson has scored at least 30 DraftKings points in the last three games. He’s an offensive spark off the bench and has been effective even with limited minutes. This will be an uptempo game against the Wizards, so the Laker rotation should shuffle through enough to give Clarkson plenty of court time. He has a usage rate of 29.7 percent and can get hot in a hurry. He doesn’t need to do much at his price tag to reach value.

DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: November 9 – Shooting Guards

Elite

James Harden ($10,700) vs. CLE

Probably one of the most popular plays on the slate, Harden is coming off a massive 83.5 DraftKings outing against the Jazz. He did so while only recording two rebounds. His lowered rebounding rate has limited his ceiling slightly this season, but his elite scoring ability continues to make him a top play. The Rockets have the highest implied total on the slate and Harden will find plenty of ways to leave his mark.

Mid-Tier

Bradley Beal ($7,800) vs. LAL

If you don’t want to pay up at the position, Beal is in a good spot against a poor defensive unit in the Lakers. The Wizards disappointed last time these two teams faced, but I expect a much different outcome tonight. As long as the game doesn’t get out of hand, Beal should she minutes in the mid-to-high 30s. He is a talented scorer who provides moderate supplementary stats.

Eric Gordon ($6,500) vs. CLE

Gordon has done an impressive job of picking up the slack while Chris Paul remains sidelined. He relies primarily on scoring and three-pointers for his fantasy production, but has the ability to have occasional outlier performances with a handful of assists or rebounds. In a game that should provide plenty of fantasy points, Gordon is a solid mid-tier play. He’s scored less than 20 points in only two games this season.

Value

Dwyane Wade ($4,700) vs. HOU

Father Prime has shown that he still has the ability to take over a game out of nowhere. Any guy priced under $5,000 who has 50-plus DraftKings point upside should be on your radar. Tyron Lue might be forced to lean on the veteran guard to help get the Cavs out of their rut. He can stuff the box score simply through his hustle and effort plays. Derrick Rose is out tonight, so the Cavs will need more from Wade.

J.J. Redick ($4,600) vs. SAC

One of the league’s elite shooters, Redick has been playing well in his last two games. He’s seeing minutes in the 30s, which is a great sign for a shooter who needs some run to find his rhythm. Sure, the Sixers have a handful of playmakers, but Redick can rack up points quicker than anyone. The Kings have been a bad defensive unit this year and I expect Redick to take advantage.

DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: November 9 – Small Forwards

Elite

LeBron James ($10,800) vs. HOU

James doesn’t need much analysis,  but if I must, he seems to play at an even higher level against teams with a star on the other side (i.e. Wizards and Bucks). He squares off against Harden tonight and it appears James is going to do absolutely whatever it takes to fix the Cavs. Rose is out tonight, so expect LeBron to dominate the ball even more. At under $11,000, it’s hard to pass him up in this matchup.

Mid-Tier

Paul George ($7,100) vs. DEN

George is one of the steadiest guys at the position due to his locked in minutes and role. George gets plenty of shot attempts despite playing alongside Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony. He’s a threat to go off any night and has a favorable matchup against the Nuggets who rank 29 in DvP against small forwards.

Robert Covington ($5,500) vs. SAC

He’s been hot from three lately, which makes rostering him at this price tag even more attractive. Covington has 45 DraftKings point upside, but can also burn you with a dud performances, making him the ultimate tournament player. The most consistent part of Covington’s game is the amount of minutes he’s receiving. He draws a nice matchup against the soft defense of the Kings.

Value

Buddy Hield ($4,600) vs. PHI

Hield hasn’t seen the most consistent court time, but he’s scored over 30 DraftKings points in two of the last three games. The Sixers rank last against defending shooting guards this year (Hield’s primary position, but positional flexibility on DraftKings makes him playable at small forward). Hield can get hot from deep and has been rebounding the ball well lately (7.3 RPG over the past three games).

DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: November 9 – Power Forwards

Elite

Anthony Davis ($11,000) vs. TOR

As long as Davis’ price tag doesn’t get out of hand, he’s a top play every time he’s on the slate. Davis has recorded a double-double in every game this season besides the one that he left early with an injury. The Pelicans usage is concentrated, which locks Davis in for plenty of opportunities. His ceiling is as high as it gets in the league. The matchup might not be the most ideal, but Davis is tough to contain.

Mid-Tier

Kevin Love ($7,400) vs. HOU

We’re not chasing points with Love who is coming off a 63 DraftKings point game. We’d been waiting for this breakout to happen given the Cavaliers recent struggles. Of course it happens the game after he was pulled due to an illness. This game has the highest implied total and Love should have plenty off opportunities to contribute. Love showed last game that he can still get it done without relying on the deep ball. Hopefully he can keep up the aggressive play tonight.

Value

Dario Saric ($4,600) vs. SAC

Saric had a big game filling in for Joel Embiid last game. He posted 42.5 DraftKings points in 36 minutes against the Jazz. Embiid will be back tonight, but Saric might have earned himself some extra run. He’s a solid fantasy producer when he gets the minutes and Embiid’s 30 minute cap could open up some opportunity.

Ryan Anderson ($4,400) vs. CLE

If you’re rostering Anderson, you’re hoping for a solid shooting performance from three. Anderson can grab eight rebounds every now and then, but you can’t count on it. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute could be out tonight, which would tighten Rockets rotation.

DraftKings NBA GPP Plays: November 9 – Centers

Elite

DeMarcus Cousins ($11,200) vs. TOR

Cousins has been an absolute monster this year. He’s averaging 62.5 DraftKings points this year and I don’t see any signs of him slowing down. His ceiling is incredibly high and the usage is extremely focused for the Pelicans. The Raptors are above average defenders down low, but Cousin can score from anywhere on the floor.

Joel Embiid ($8,000) vs. SAC

Despite his 30 minute cap, Embiid can still put up strong fantasy numbers. Embiid gets a heavy share of shot attempts and is a near-lock for a double-double. The Kings rank 30th in defensive rebounding, so expect Embiid to clean up the glass with ease. He might have a limited ceiling, but is a reliable play for 5x value.

Mid-Tier

Clint Capela ($6,100) vs. CLE

The Cavs have been pitiful defensively and this game has the highest implied total on the slate. Capela has had inconsistent minutes and his last two games have been underwhelming. We know Capela has 20 rebound upside when he gets the minutes. He’s averaging 1.38 fantasy points per minute this year.

Marcin Gortat ($5,600) vs. LAL

Gortat could be a cheap way of getting exposure to this game, which has the second highest implied total of the night and is a pace-up game for the Wizards. Gortat put up 33 DraftKings points last time he played the Wizards. He’s coming off a bad outing against the Mavericks in a slow paced game, so this could be a good bounce back spot for Gortat at lower ownership.

Value

Julius Randle ($4,800) vs. WAS

For whatever reason, Randle has been in the doghouse this season coming off the bench playing limited minutes. He has an elite fantasy points per minute production and high usage with the second unit. This game should be fast, which plays into Randle’s athleticism. If you expect this game to blow out then Randle could could finally see extended minutes. Regardless, Randle is in a could spot to reach tournament value.
