Week 11 will offer five coaches on the hot seat a chance to get a needed victory.
At this time of the year, many programs are making up their minds whether or not to move on from their current head coach. Some have already done so, while others are giving the current coach on the hot seat up until the last minute to get things right.
Remarkably, there are a couple of coaches that haven’t been let go yet. Nobody has been able to successfully predict a couple of ousters yet and that just leads to all the more intrigue on a weekly basis.
With the regular season winding down, teams are going to start being eliminated from bowl contention or close. Missing out on a bowl game is typically a big cause for dismissal and that’s where things could get interesting. Here are five coaches on the hot seat heading into Week 11.
Kevin Sumlin
Coaching an SEC program means that it’s about a lot more than making a bowl game. Kevin Sumlin has high goals to meet with Texas A&M and he could be running out of time if he wants to remain head coach.
After a loss to Auburn this past week, Sumlin saw his team move to 5-4 on the season. They should have their sixth win of the year with New Mexico in town this week, but that’s not going to be enough.
With all that has transpired already this year and throughout his tenure with players transferring and an upset board of regents member sounding of, Sumlin needs more than a victory. Losing to New Mexico would be an instant nail in the coffin.
