Taylor Swift’s latest album has finally arrived, but can you listen to it on Spotify or other streaming services?
Reputation, the much anticipated new album by Taylor Swift, is finally here. Eventually, you’ll be able to listen to it on Spotify and other music streaming services.
Just not right now. As Billboard explains, it’s an intentional move by Taylor Swift and her record label, Big Machine, who have told streaming companies that Reputation won’t be available to them for at least one week, if not more.
Why pull that move? For record sales, of course. Swift is one of the few artists left who can reliably be counted on to get fans to purchase her music, but even she isn’t immune to the forces acting on the industry at this part of the 21st century. Thus, it’s a supply and demand thing — if you can’t stream the album and need it now, you just might decide to buy it.

As such, Reputation is available through iTunes and should be at other retailers as well. Certainly, it’s out on physical CD for those of you who still go that route.
And it doesn’t mean you can’t stream it anywhere, as iHeartRadio has a special station playing both the new album and Swift’s classic hits. You can listen to that here.
Swift has an interesting and up and down relationship with Spotify, famously pulling her music from the service back in 2014, explaining that she simply thought her music was worth more than what she was getting in royalties. Her music returned this summer, which is why it’s expected that her latest album will follow suit.
The question is when, and we don’t know the answer yet. The best advice, for now, is just to start checking on Friday, Nov. 17 and then keep an eye on the news if it’s not there by then.
