The Golden State Warriors are hitting their stride. Golden State has ripped off five straight wins by an average margin of 21.6 points. They’re immense offensive skill and depth is overwhelming opponents. Specifically, Golden State has 14 players that have received significant playing time thus far. Furthermore, they got 57 points from their bench in a Nov. 8 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Golden State beat a much improved Minnesota team by 24 points without Kevin Durant. Consequently, they appear invincible despite not playing peak-level defense.
The Philadelphia 76ers seem destined to make the playoffs in a weaker Eastern Conference. This is largely due to the play of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Simmons is putting up 17.8 points, 9.4 boards, 7.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Meanwhile, Embiid leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 20.7 points and 10.7 rebounds, respectively. Philadelphia has won five of their last six games. This recent hot streak includes wins over three playoff teams from a season ago. However, the 76ers matchup with the Warriors in Oakland will be their stiffest test yet.
