Notre Dame enters play at 8-1 on the season and is the No. 3 team in the country. The Fighting Irish have been in the top four of the first two College Football Playoff rankings thus far. Their only loss this season came by a point at home to Georgia Bulldogs, the No. 1 team in the country. Notre Dame may not have a conference championship game to play as an independent, but this is certainly one of the best teams in the country.
Miami enters play at 8-0 (6-0) on the season and is the No. 7 team in the country. The Hurricanes moved up in the second College Football Playoff rankings by thrashing their biggest threat in the ACC Coastal, the Virginia Tech Hokies, last week. Miami will only have 11 regular season games due to Hurricane Irma canceling their game with the Arkansas State Red Wolves. If Miami wins out, the Hurricanes make the College Football Playoff, period.
