A few teams saved their season on Sunday, as the playoff picture remains wide open in both conferences.

The playoff picture is starting to take shape, but we don’t know how things will shake out yet. The bubbling Wild Card picture in both conferences continues to cause unrest, as there are still a handful of teams still alive and in the hunt.

The season is slipping away from a few teams, but three teams saved their seasons with big wins. That doesn’t mean they’ll be in the hunt much longer, but this is a week-by-week league at this point and the fluidity of the playoff picture continues to be as intriguing as ever.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFC South, (3-6)

Result: 15-10 win over New York Jets

Tampa Bay is just barely hanging on, but it needed a win to keep any hope of the playoffs alive. Beating the Jets 15-10 isn’t the best feeling in the world, but it snapped a five-game losing streak — something that needed to happen for the psyche of the team.

Right now the Saints are in the driver seat in the NFC South. Then the Falcons and Panthers are next in line, which means the Bucs are way down the pecking order for both a division title and a Wild Card berth. If Tampa Bay somehow gets into the postseason this year, it’ll be as a wild card, but there’s a lot that needs to happen in order for that to be a reality. Still, the NFC playoff picture is wide open still, and the Buccaneers won themselves another week of vying for a playoff spot that hasn’t yet escaped their grasp.
