Rudy Gobert injury: Jazz star will miss 4-6 weeks

Unfortunate break for the Utah Jazz as their star center, Rudy Gobert, is set to miss four to six weeks with a knee injury.

Currently sitting in ninth place in the Western Conference, the Jazz will be reeling after losing their best player. With a record of 6-7, and with how early it is in the season, this is by no means detrimental to their season.

However, his loss will surely be felt on both sides of the ball. Gobert’s defensive prowess and rebounding is crucial for the Jazz, and they will struggle to fill the void this injury leaves.

During their game against the Miami Heat on Friday, Gobert suffered a contusion in his right knee. Although he returned to the game and continued playing, Gobert missed their game against Brooklyn yesterday. The star center is now out for upwards of six weeks.

Through 12 games this season, Gobert is averaging 13.9 points per game. He adds 10.5 rebounds and has been shooting 62 percent from the field. That kind of production is going to be hard to replace for the Jazz.

This opens the door for players like Ekpe Udoh and rookie Tony Bradley to step up and prove their worth. The Jazz also have Derrick Favors who can play center but has been better as a power-forward alongside Gobert.

The Jazz need to make adjustments to stay afloat in the Western Conference. Losing an all-star like Gobert is never easy, thankfully for the Jazz it is only four to six weeks, not more.
